The short answer
Record where startup stops and the exact message. Restart normally, finish pending game updates and verify the installed client through Steam. If the error explicitly names Easy Anti-Cheat, use that error’s official support guidance. These are general checks, not a confirmed universal WARDOGS crash fix.

Capture the failure before changing anything
Write down whether the process never opens, disappears after a splash screen, stops with a named error, or closes after reaching the menu. Save the error wording and timestamp. A full Windows restart or blue screen deserves a separate report from a crash to desktop; do not assume the same cause.
We have not reproduced a crash in WARDOGS and have no measured success rate for the following sequence.
Check the installed game
- Close the game normally and restart Windows. Finish any restart already requested by an update.
- Open Steam and let pending client downloads complete.
- In the Library, open the affected game’s Properties, select Installed Files, then use Verify integrity of game files. Let the check finish before relaunching. Follow Valve’s instructions if the interface differs.
- Compare your PC with the requirements on the official store page. Meeting a listed minimum does not diagnose a crash or guarantee stability.
Take care to verify the client that actually failed. Repairing the main game does not necessarily check a separate playtest installation.
Isolate optional changes
If you added launch arguments, first save a copy and temporarily return that field to its previous state. Do not add undocumented engine flags from another game’s guide.
If you run an optional overlay, recorder or tuning utility, close one at a time and repeat the same launch. Keep security software running. If a single change prevents the crash, test again before calling it a cause; a successful launch can also coincide with a temporary service recovery.
For graphics-driver updates, use the hardware vendor or laptop manufacturer’s official channel. Record the old and new driver versions. Do not install a third-party “driver fixer” or replace individual DLLs from download sites.
Separate an anti-cheat message from a game crash
Only follow the Easy Anti-Cheat route when the message actually points there. A game disappearing shortly after an anti-cheat splash is a timing observation, not proof that anti-cheat caused the failure.
If Windows itself repeatedly crashes or restarts, stop repeatedly launching the game and retain the Windows stop code or crash report for support. Do not disable platform security features as a generic experiment.
Verify the result and retain a recovery path
Try the same startup path after each individual change. Record whether you reached the menu, joined a match or failed at a new stage. Restore optional settings that made no difference.
An actionable support report includes the failure stage, exact error, timestamp and time zone, CPU/GPU/RAM, Windows version, graphics driver and visible game version. Never publish session tokens, account credentials or unredacted personal file paths.
