WARDOGS server browser not showing servers: a checking guide

Check access, pending updates and available filters before treating an empty server list as a local installation problem.

The short answer

Confirm the current access window and client first. Then clear any filters your build provides and refresh once. An empty list can involve discovery, filters or service availability; it does not by itself prove that your installation is damaged. We have not verified a game-specific browser repair.

Confirm what “not showing” means

An entirely missing browser screen is different from an empty list or a list whose entries reject a join request. Note which of these you see. Take a screenshot with any error wording visible; remove personal information before sharing it.

These checks are conditional because the browser’s exact control names have not been inspected in a running build.

Check access and the client

  1. Open the current developer notices. Confirm that the notice applies to the session you intend to join.
  2. Check the name of the installed Steam entry. A playtest entitlement and the main game’s release are different forms of access.
  3. Inspect Steam Downloads. Let any queued update finish, then launch the same client again.
  4. If login itself never completes, use the queue guide instead; browser checks cannot be evaluated yet.

Review filters one at a time

If your build offers browser filters, record their current values before changing them. Clear search text first. Next, inspect region or ping restrictions and any options that hide empty, full or password-protected servers. Skip controls that do not exist in your build.

Refresh once after a change and record whether entries appear. If widening a filter reveals matches, the observation points toward filtering; restore the other settings and narrow the result to a suitable region.

If there is no change, do not assume that a particular region is offline. Check the official-status sources again before spending time on your PC.

When local checks make sense

If unrelated internet services also fail, start with your local connection. If only WARDOGS is affected after an interrupted update or a file error, Steam’s supported verification procedure is a reasonable next diagnostic step. This is not a confirmed fix for server discovery.

Avoid resetting all network settings or disabling the firewall just to see whether the list changes. Those actions alter much more than this game and can obscure the original symptom.

Validate and report

Success means the expected list becomes visible and a suitable match can be joined. Record these as separate results. If the list remains empty, send support your region, client version if visible, filter state, timestamps and any error. A report from one network is not evidence of a global outage.
