Maintenance and a queue are opposite problems

This guide covers the AION 2 Global PC release through Steam and PURPLE. Official NC maintenance notices and the October server-transfer schedule were reviewed on 28 October 2026. We have not tested login behaviour in a running client.

Login failures during a launch month split into two completely different states, and they need opposite responses:

What you see What it means What to do
A maintenance message, or login fully unavailable Servers are down Stop retrying; nothing on your PC gets you in
A queue position number counting down Servers are up, capacity is full Leave the client alone and stay in line

Confirm which state you are in

  • Maintenance message, or you cannot reach the login screen. This is scheduled downtime. The October 5 commercial launch used an 8-hour window that ended Advanced Access, and weekly maintenance followed on October 6–7 and October 14.
  • A queue number that moves. This is capacity, not a broken client. Community reports during the launch week put waits around 30–45 minutes for a position near 1,500, with some players seeing 2,000–3,500.

If it is maintenance: wait, then one clean relaunch

  • Do not spam login. Everyone already in-game is disconnected when the window starts, and retrying changes nothing.
  • When the message clears, restart the launcher once. A single launcher restart fixed “temporarily unavailable” and PURPLE login loops for players during earlier congested periods; reinstalling did not.
  • Still seeing maintenance after the posted window ended? Check whether the window was extended before you troubleshoot your PC or reinstall. Maintenance dates here are historical examples — always confirm the current window from the official NC notice or Discord before assuming your install is broken.

If you are in a queue: leave the client alone

  • A moving number is capacity, not a broken client. Only reconnect if the number is frozen for a long stretch or an explicit error kicks you out.
  • Do not close, restart, alt-tab or crash near the front of the line. Players report losing their place near the front — one waited from about 2,000 down to 800, crashed, and landed at 2,486 with the number stalled. Closing or restarting does not preserve your position.
  • Do not log out on purpose during peak hours. The line you rejoin is longer than the one you left.
  • Priority queue is not a skip: accounts in good standing get a priority queue instead of the general queue on full servers, but both only advance when a slot opens.
  • If you already have a character, stay in that server’s queue. Cross-server instanced content (dungeons) still lets you play with friends on other servers. If you have no character yet, create one on a recommended or newly opened server — servers such as Ariel, Azphel, Yustiel and Marchutan were added during the early rush because the original ones were full.

Server-selection screen ignores your clicks

If you reach the Region / Faction / Server screen but the tiles do not respond to mouse clicks, that is an input-device bug, not a server outage. Try, in order: plug in a physical mouse if you are on a trackpad, unplug any gamepad (a connected controller can hijack cursor focus), then restart the client after connecting or disconnecting an input device so the engine re-reads your hardware.

Server transfers (October window)

  • Early Access characters could transfer from the October 14 maintenance until the October 21 maintenance; characters on the October 5 Launch Servers can transfer from the October 21 maintenance until the October 28 maintenance.
  • The base transfer costs 0 Quna, once per account. Extra character slots on the destination server cost 1,000 Quna each if you exceed its available slots.
  • Transfers are restricted by region and faction: Elyos characters stay on Elyos servers, Asmodian characters move to other Asmodian servers, and European players cannot transfer into North American regions.
  • Each server has separate transfer-in and transfer-out limits, refreshed every hour on the hour. A heavily requested destination can close before the advertised deadline.
  • After a transfer your character name becomes “@TemporaryName”; you set a new name at first login. Server Storage items do not move — put them on the character first.

What we have not confirmed

These are official notices plus community reports, not a live status check, and we have not tested any of this in a running client. Maintenance dates move and transfer windows close, so confirm the current notice from the official NC announcements or Discord before acting. If a full region (not just instanced dungeons) is unreachable for a long period, treat it as an official NC-side incident and follow the official feed rather than changing local settings.
