AION 2 Character Missing After Account Linking? Steam & PURPLE Checks
The short answer
Changing a Steam link does not transfer characters to a different NC account. Identify the NC account and login route used when you created the character. If you already changed the link, use NC FAQ 7240; if you cannot identify the original account, stop and contact NC support.

If your AION 2 character no longer appears after you changed an account link, start with the most important distinction: an empty character list is not proof that your character was deleted. In the Steam unlinking and re-linking case described by NC’s FAQ 7240, character and game data remain with the NC account used when the character was created. Linking Steam to a different NC account does not transfer that data.
What you do next depends on one question: how did you originally sign in to AION 2? Steam sign-in, PURPLE with Steam, and PURPLE with an NC account are not interchangeable routes. Repeatedly unlinking accounts to experiment can leave you unable to access your existing character. This guide separates those routes, points to the official article for an already-changed link, and explains when to stop and contact support.
This guide covers AION 2 Global on Windows PC, not account or progress transfers from the Korean or Taiwanese versions. NC’s current help-center FAQs were read in full on October 17, 2026, alongside earlier reviews of NC’s official notices. Confirm which NC account holds your character before following the linked account-handling instructions. Account operations were not performed for this page, and your specific account state cannot be checked from a guide.
If the game will not start at all — logo, NCGUARD, UE fatal error or a stuck launcher — that is a separate launch problem, not a missing character. See the AION 2 won’t-launch guide for those checks first.
First: don’t make it worse
- Don’t delete your account or any characters. Not visible on this login is not the same as deleted.
- Don’t unlink and re-link repeatedly to experiment. NC’s account-linking warning says an additional link change can break the existing connection and prevent access to your character.
- Don’t buy anything a second time to restore a character. A new purchase is not an account-access recovery method.
- If you cannot identify which account holds the character, stop changing links and contact official support.
Step 1: Identify how you originally signed in
Your original login route matters more than what you are using now. Check the provider and account identity, rather than assuming that matching email addresses prove you are in the same account. A Google, Apple or Discord sign-in may not be the NC account you originally used.
The routes below describe platform access from an identified original account. If you have already unlinked Steam or changed to a different account, go to Step 3 before changing any links again.
Route A — you created the character on Steam. To also play on PURPLE, NC’s Steam-to-PURPLE article, FAQ 7176, describes choosing Steam sign-in in PURPLE and using the same Steam account. That is access to the existing character, not a reason to create a new one.
Route B — you started on PURPLE and signed into PURPLE with Steam. NC’s PURPLE-to-Steam article, FAQ 7177, says to launch through that same Steam account. Do not substitute a different Steam account to test whether the character appears.
Route C — you started on PURPLE with an NC account or another sign-in method. NC’s FAQ 7177 describes linking Steam from the NC account that holds the character, using My Page → Account Linking on the NC website. Identify that account first and follow the current official article. Do not apply this new-platform route as an improvised recovery sequence after an existing link has already been changed.
For all three routes, if the expected character is still absent, stop and re-check the account before changing any links. A missing character under one login does not establish the state of another account.
Step 2: Why changing the link doesn’t move your character
NC’s explanation in FAQ 7240 is specific: unlinking Steam from one NC account and connecting it to a different NC account does not migrate character or game data. The data remains associated with the account used at creation.
Keep two distinctions clear:
- Access vs. transfer. Instructions for using the same character on another platform are not instructions for merging two accounts. Do not infer that characters, purchases or other entitlements move to a different account because a link changed. Ask support about mismatched purchases or entitlements.
- Missing vs. deleted. The character list under your current login is not enough to tell you whether the original character was erased. First establish which account you are viewing and which account was used to create it.
Step 3: If you already unlinked and linked a different account
Use NC’s dedicated FAQ 7240 for a character missing after a link change. Character data stays with the NC account used when it was created. Before changing links again, confirm that you can identify that original account. If you cannot, stop and contact NC support.
Follow the current official article for the route that matches your account state. Do not assume that signing in with a Steam account now opens the NC account that held the character before the link change. The account it reaches needs to be checked, not guessed.
One prerequisite in NC’s FAQ is easy to miss: the NC account holding your character must have another login method linked before Steam can be unlinked. Its reconnect section uses another login method that was linked before Steam was unlinked. If you cannot confirm that account or access its other login method, stop and contact NC support.
The official article contains the account-handling instructions. This page does not reproduce an unlinking sequence, and we have not tested recovery on an account in your situation. If the account identity or the article’s prerequisites are unclear, use support rather than experimenting.
Step 4: Match your situation to the official entry
| Original login | Symptom | Official help | Avoid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Character made on Steam | Missing in PURPLE | Same Steam sign-in in PURPLE: FAQ 7176 | A new character or an unrelated NC account as a test |
| PURPLE with Steam sign-in | Missing in Steam | Same Steam account: FAQ 7177 | A different Steam account |
| PURPLE with NC or other sign-in | Missing in Steam | First identify the NC account holding the character; use FAQ 7177 | A fresh account or guessed link changes |
| Steam link already changed | Missing after the change | FAQ 7240; check its account-state conditions | Deletion, repeat linking or a new purchase as a fix |
| Original account unclear | Conflicting logins | Stop and contact NC support | Experiments on live account links |
Step 5: The Twitch Drops warning
A missing Twitch Drop can lead players to change account links unnecessarily. NC’s Twitch Drops account-linking guide says to link the account you actually play on: Steam if you play through Steam, or the NC account if you play through PURPLE.
The warning is explicit: even if a reward has not arrived, do not separately change the account link on the NC website. That can break the existing connection and leave the original character inaccessible. Treat a missing reward as a claim or support question first, not a reason to try another link.
The official Launch FAQ points to My Page → Manage Login for checking Twitch account-link status. That check is not an instruction to replace the account linked to your game.
Step 6: When to stop and contact support
Stop trying fixes and open an official support ticket when:
- you cannot identify which account holds the character;
- the account you can sign into does not appear to be the account used for that character;
- the official article’s conditions do not clearly match your situation;
- or purchased content does not match the account you play on.
Prepare the platform (Steam or PURPLE), Global region and server, original sign-in method, roughly when the character stopped appearing, exact error text if any, and screenshots with personal data redacted. Do not send passwords, verification codes or recovery codes to anyone. Provide account details only through the official support form as requested.
Use NC’s official customer support and select AION 2 Global. GameFix Radar cannot inspect your account, change its links or restore a character for you.
What’s confirmed — and what this page doesn’t claim
NC’s official material supports the data-ownership explanation, the two platform-access directions, and the warning against re-linking merely to obtain Twitch rewards. The linked official articles are the place to check the instructions applicable to your account.
This page does not claim that every missing-character report has the same cause, that a character was permanently deleted, or that a link change guarantees recovery or transfers purchases. Follow the current official text; account-specific uncertainty belongs with NC support.
